1998-2000
I worked under Fiona Kirkwood, a well known multimedia artist from Scotland. My works included many, pencil/charcoal drawings, acrylic on paper and one painting in oil. The focus was on learning about dimensions and how an artist can perceive and recreate objects; a very hands-on way of learning about the history and the different movements in art.

2001-2004
I attained an Honours Degree in Psychology at the University of Pretoria. At university I experimented with various mediums and started developing my own unique style, painting with a combination of sponges and brushes. I also got involved in building electric guitars over holidays and got intrigued by the “car paint” used to spray guitars.

2005
I met Tamlyn Martin, Durban curator and artist. In June 2005 I had my first solo exhibition at Bean Bag Bohemia, where I sold all my work. This I consider to be my first “authentic” body of work, using my signature “car paint”. This work was inspired by the abstract movement also know as “action painting”, which is characterized by an attempt to depict universal emotions. I this case, the ecstatic emotion of a post-apartheid South Africa. The city, Durban where I grew up has a very tropical climate and most days are spent outdoors. You’ll also find African drawings are much inspired by the sun, landscape and the beauty of nature. At this time all I saw was primary colours…see earlier work

2007
I spent a lot of time developing my technique of drip painting. Here my works became more figurative.

"The Mourning Palace”
An Example of the characters/figures (the little devils pulling down the virtuous) that I started to bring into my work.

With most of my first abstract paintings, painting happened impulsively. Here I develop ideas in my head before I painted.
I also participated in many shows all over South Africa, until I was invited to do my first solo show in London in 2007. This year also included a group exhibition in Belgium.

I have an emence passion for music, composition and art. It’s the kind of career you do not decide to pursue with your head. Read about my love for music

London
I am currently living in London pursuing a full-time career in art and music. The environment one lives in influences your work greatly.

My works have become more intense and I started moving away from drip painting and more towards painting with a pencil. I will call this, “dip and paint”! present work
This way I can go into a lot more detail on my works.
